AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today boosted support on the first day of early voting for Denise Villalobos for House District 34 and Representative Janie Lopez for re-election to House District 37 at campaign stops with local supporters and volunteers in Corpus Christi and Harlingen.

Kicking off the first day of early voting in Corpus Christi, Governor Abbott championed Denise Villalobos’ strong conservative voice, noting her commitment to ensure public safety, secure the border, and protect Texas’ robust energy industry.

“Denise Villalobos will support our law enforcement officers, and she will work with me to ensure they have the funding they need,” said Governor Abbott. “She will make sure that we keep high-demand, good-paying jobs in the energy sector across our great state and, in particular, the greater Nueces County area. Denise Villalobos will protect the future of the energy industry and make it even better going forward. My mom taught me to never put off what you can do today to tomorrow—go get that vote banked today so you can do your part to win this election.”

The Governor then traveled to Harlingen to stump for Representative Lopez. Governor Abbott touted Representative Lopez as the best choice for House District 37, pointing to legislation she helped pass that bolstered Texas’ historic border security mission and economic measures that will ensure the state’s economy remains the envy of the nation.

“Because of the funding Representative Janie Lopez provided to help secure the border, Texas is the only state to build its own border wall,” said Governor Abbott. “From Brownsville all the way to El Paso over the past year, Texas has reduced illegal border crossings by over 86% thanks to the work of Representative Janie Lopez. I need Representative Janie Lopez back in Austin. Go vote, get it banked, and get 10 more people to vote to ensure Representative Janie Lopez returns as your State Representative.”
