Port Aransas Officials Stay Put to Help Victims
Four city officials in Port Aransas decided to ride out the storm in a local university dorm room, electing not to evacuate ahead of Hurricane Harvey’s landfall in order to be able to help any victims and begin search-and-rescue as soon as possible after the storm had passed. Under-prepared and often concerned for their own safety as the electricity went out and windows shattered, the four men were able to begin search-and-rescue for other residents who had remained in their homes during the storm.
